The National Conference on Spirituality in School Education is a curated national gathering that brings together spiritual thinkers, education leaders, scholars, school practitioners, and policy voices.
It is designed as a serious and thoughtful dialogue on the role of inner development within school education, and on how India’s knowledge traditions can be responsibly and meaningfully integrated into contemporary learning environments.
The conference explores how the wisdom of inner and spiritual sciences can be articulated in a universal, experiential, and academically grounded way that is inclusive, non-sectarian, and relevant for modern classrooms.
This language is directly aligned with the intent and framing of the invite.
Across the world, education systems are becoming increasingly effective at delivering information, skills, and professional pathways.
Yet, a deeper imbalance is becoming visible.
Students today are more informed than ever, but often struggle with anxiety, emotional instability, distraction, and a lack of inner clarity and meaning.
This raises a fundamental question.
Is education only meant to prepare individuals for external success, or is it also responsible for nurturing balanced, self-aware, and grounded human beings?
The current model of education, while powerful in many ways, often does not address the inner dimension of human development.
And without this, the foundation of human wellbeing remains incomplete.

For thousands of years, India has preserved highly sophisticated sciences of inner development through its yogic and contemplative traditions.
These traditions explored the nature of mind, attention, awareness, emotional balance, ethics, and human flourishing with remarkable depth and precision.
Importantly, these were not developed as abstract philosophies alone, but as practical, experiential sciences for cultivating clarity, stability, and responsibility in human beings.
Yet, much of this knowledge remains absent from modern school education.
This conference is an attempt to bring this knowledge back into the conversation, not as belief or doctrine, but as a living body of insight that can support human development in a meaningful and responsible way.
The intention is not to introduce faith, belief systems, or doctrine into schools.
The focus is not on telling children what to think, but on helping them understand themselves.
This is not another short-term intervention or programme layered onto an already overloaded system.
The aim is to introduce students to the processes of attention, awareness, emotional regulation, and self-understanding in an age-appropriate and experiential way.
The conference is a starting point for deeper research, curriculum design, and systemic integration.
The intention of this conference is not to arrive at quick conclusions, but to begin a meaningful and responsible national dialogue.
A dialogue that brings together wisdom, scholarship, educational experience, and practical insight
A dialogue that is rooted in authenticity, yet open to contemporary realities.
And a dialogue that asks, with sincerity and depth:
How can education contribute to the formation of human beings who are not only capable, but also balanced, aware, compassionate, and inwardly stable?
This conference marks the beginning of a longer journey.
A journey towards rethinking education in a way that includes the inner dimension of human life.
We invite educators, thinkers, institutions, and leaders to engage with this inquiry and contribute to shaping its future direction.
